FOX NEWS EATING THEIR OWN: MALKIN ATTACKS COLMES OVER PALIN STORY

September 2, 2008 · Filed Under 2008 Election, Barack Obama, Bill O'Reilly, Fox News, Media

Looks like Sean Hannity’s other half, Alan Colmes, is in the Right’s crosshairs.

On Saturday night, Colmes posted the facts concerning Sarah Palin’s youngest son’s birth day story to his website. and faster than Montgomery Burns could say, “Release the hounds,” the Right open the gates of hellfire.  And not just comments to site - which would be their right.  Idiots have the same freedoms as intellects, but the broadcast, bomb-throwing Lords of Loud, also entered the fray, including Fox contributor and O’Reilly Factor fill-in, Michelle Malkin, who wrote…

Of all the moronic attacks on Sarah Palin, and they are piling up, this has got to be one of the lowest of the low. And it’s brought to you by the morbid ghouls who would rather you abort your unborn children than bring them into the world and increase the planet’s carbon footprint. Left-wing definition of “proper pre-natal care:” A bloody trip to Planned Parenthood.

Considered by many on the Left as moderate at best and at worst, a co-conspirator, and the Fox News viewers as a tolerable Marxist, next to Fox contributor, Marc Lamont Hill, Colmes may be the most sensible voice at Fox. To be sure, his adversarial voice has gotten stronger as the Presidential campaign has progressed. Don’t ask me, just listen to how many Colmes soundbites Stephanie Miller plays and cheers rather than mocks.

But this week, Colmes needed to man the parka, ‘cause Tropical Storm Freeper blew into Alantown.

The reaction has not only been full of piss and vinegar, it’s been replete with plenty other excrement. Commenters slurred Colmes’s Judaism, Obama’s color and “baby-killer” and “scumbag” proliferated the pleasantries.

As Bill O’Reilly says when he daily-diatribes agin’ the Left: I don’t want to show this, but I have to.

Some of the nicer ones included…

SUNTAN, who wrote fondly…

You chickenshit piece of filth kike, you are the reason Hitler was able to convince so many people to do what they did to an entire race of people. Assholes like you. I want to feel sorry for you on some level, but then realize that would be like trying to love a jellyfish. I’m waiting for you to make your Imus statement, you hate this woman so much inevitably you will fuck up and get fired, even if those hypocritical bastards at Media Matters won’t call any attention to your hate

JAIME took the healthcare route…

You’re a bag of scum. Your mother should have aborted you. I hope you’ve taken your sheep to the vet for an abortion - with you as the father your spawn could only turn out to be scum.

WAYNE went for the religious tête-à-tête….

with this jew and that lying bitch, nadine strossen of the aclu, is it any wonder why the jews are hated? they’re always trying to stab somebody in the back

Less that 24 hours later, Colmes followed his first comments with what he felt was a necessary explanation… which was greeted with more attacks.

Expect Bill O’Reilly to make the Right’s vile attacks on Colmes the subject of tonight’s Talking Point. In the least, the Impact segment.

I could be wrong.

Steve

The right wingnuts, sit there and seriously pretend that Sarah Palin is a qualified candidate for VP and has more experience than Barack.

By this smiling pretend game, they look like what they are. Ignorant.

The best thing here is to ignore her.

It is just one more assault on the intelligence of anyone with an IQ over 85.

No worries. The righties can’t claim the left is crucifying Palin because they have already deemed Obama the Messiah.

I can’t wait to see their reaction once they discover that, if elected, Pallin’s family…including an illegitimate granddaughter and her underaged daughter’s husband will be…yup… you guessed it…living on the taxpayers dollar.

Agreed. Sarah the patsy is a Judas goat.

I believe Sarah was put on the ticket to lure the male voters, more so than the woman voters.

    Republicans are worthless scum. Period

There’s not a person who can say (with a straight face) that Sarah Palin is ready to be the President should McCain fall ill or die. By her own words, she didn’t even know what a Vice President does.

Say what you want about Obama, but he graduated magna cu m laude from Harvard Law, taught Constitutional law at U/Chicago Law School, served as Dir. of the Developing Communities Project (’85-’88), served in the Senate of a large state (’96-’04), was elected to US Senate (’04), serving on these committees: Foreign Relations (Member); Foreign Relations Subcommittee on European Affairs (Chairman); Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (Member); Homeland Security and Gov’tal Affairs (Member); Veterans’ Affairs (Member); built a massive campaign organization and picked Joe Biden — who has even more experience — as a running mate.

Typical gutter tripe from the lowest of the low get access to major media and can not stand any dissent on their side. Colmes seems to have developed a backbone he was previously lacking. Maybe he decided he wasn’t getting any younger and came to the conclusion that it is better to fight than lie down with the wolves to get mauled.

With standards set so low at Faux News how else will such people act without guidance or even integrity?

I wonder if when a progressive candidate or cause is questioned or attacked, do they get a similar level of “discourse” in response? It seems like some of our family values folks are quite comfortable with slurs, insults and even death threats. I honestly feel I reside on a different planet from that crowd. It is disturbing, to say the least.

I read a lot of progressive and left leaning websites but I do try to keep up with what’s being said on the right as well. I have to say that for a group of people who profess to be the only ones with “family values” those on the right are the most disturbing group of people ever. Do they kiss their mothers with those mouths? I never read a logical well thought out argument from them. It’s like they get an idea stuck in their head and it just bounces around there in that empty space for a few days until they can’t stand it and out comes the hate filled name calling. Not a word about the reason why the person they are railing against is or may be wrong in their thinking. No, just hate filled, vile, profanity and name calling along with threats of rape, by person or object, or death, preferably by slow torture. These people really are in need of some intense therapy. Does anyone know the name of a good therapist who works on large groups of hate mongering, mouth breathers who are, by the way allowed to vote?

Don’t worry guys, McCain & Palin are toast…unless Diebold do their thing (again).

  11. Barry on September 4th, 2008 6:27 am

I honestly don’t get all of the personal attacks and name calling from both sides of the isle.

I know most of it is politics but when you start calling people murders, idiots, Hitler, etc… it completely voids any legitimate argument that you might have had.

I don’t care if you’re liberal or conservative. When you go that route you loose me. At that point it becomes a completely emotional and irrational argument.

Whatever happened to basic respect? Being conservative doesn’t make a person “ignorant” any more than being liberal does.

We’re all Americans. We all want what’s best for the country. We just have different ideas of what that looks like and how to get there.

So, let’s debate ideas like adults not call each other names like two kids on the playground. I mean honestly. I guess it’s kind of fun but it doesn’t really get us anywhere.

Barry- Well said, although in defense of liberals who compare conservative leaders to Hitler (as an example), one can truly make valid arguments to that effect- as long as they are not just name-calling. Take this quote:

“Naturally, the common people don’t want war, but they can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. Tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of Patriotism and endangering the country. It works the same in every country.”

-Herman Goering, Hitler’s Reichsmarschall, at the Nuremberg Trials (Sounds like the GOP, yeah?)

You can also make very valid arguments that many republicans ARE ignorant, as in uninformed, those low-information voters, who only get their news from Right-wing radio, Fox “News”, etc…. there have been studies done to that effect, which prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that those sources of info lead people to believing things that are simply not true.

All-in-all I think your post is spot-on, I really agree with the spirit of your words. Just felt compelled to add to what you said, not diminish it by any means (I hope that’s not the impression)

There is a lot more respect for people on the left, it seems, as well as more respect for free speech. Every time I make a comment on a right-wing site, it either doesn’t get published or is removed within 5 minutes, no matter how tame and polite. The problem, I believe, is that I corrected the author of the post with some bit of TRUTH, or added a missing element which diminshed the impact of the story. Those Freedom-Lovin’ Republicans!

  13. Girl From Texas on September 4th, 2008 6:53 pm

The problem with the right side, and Bush is a really good example of this, is that when you disagree with them, they slam the door in your face. People who disagree with Republicans are labeled unpatriotic, baby killers, or they get outed like Plame. There is no room for discussion. That’s why they had to a pick a woman who already completely towed the party line. No other woman would do. That, to them, was more important than experience.

I’m waiting for Cheney to endorse her.
