Get Off O’Reilly’s Back!
Okay, so in upcoming Michael Wolff biography of Rupert Murdoch, “The Man Who Owns The News,” we discover that the Fox Corp head honcho “despises” Bill O’Reilly. Wolff also brings up the fact that FN’s chief executive, Roger Ailes “loathes” the No-spinster.
Big deal. Bosses are supposed to hate their employees. It’s in the blood; part of what drive them. You hate your boss, you don’t think they hate you? It’s as natural as Brit Hume’s furled brow.
Geex Louise. It’s been bad enough that liberal hosts (both of them) have had it in for O’Reilly, but when the gentile, right wing talker, Mark Levin said that Bill was, among other things…”A moron,” “A phoney journalist, “A non-Factor who doesn’t know crapola about economics, history or law,” an idiot,” and wrapped it all up with “You paid more in hush money for your little phone sex than I’ve ever earned,” you had to have a twinge of empathy for Bill.
But the revelation that O’Reilly is abhorred by almost the entire Fox News organization, which probably includes every blonde Billl likes to place himself between on his show and have to giggle at he eternal pitiable attempts at humor, makes for rather conflicting feelings.
Enough already. Sure, Bill has built a sold basis for universal disdain. I certainly don’t need to list the inexhaustible list of violations against common decency, but if I did, it would include…
Saying kidnaped teen, Shawn Hornbeck, liked his captivity by an adult sexual predator (”The situation here for this kid looks to me to be a lot more fun than what he had under his old parents…And I think when it all comes down, what’s going to happen is, there was an element here that this kid liked about his circumstances.) he was only saying it in the context of discussing “child sexual abuse accommodation syndrome”
Berating and belittling his co-host Lise Weihl on the air for telling the truth.
And I certainly don’t have to repeat that little phone sex anecdote the Levin brought up…but if I was to, I would write that the author of “Looking Out For You” and “The O’Reilly Factor For Kids: A Survival Guide for America’s Families,” sexually-harassed his producer, Andrea Makris, over twenty years his junior.
But then we have to read that the company who he makes millions for can’t stand him. That is just piling on. Enough already. I think it’s time that the entire hate-Bill O’Reilly take a breath. The man, after all, is a father of young children. How do you think it feels for his kids or his wife for that matter, hearing those nasty rumors of Bill whoring around in France while his wife was pregnant? Spreading that type of trash about, no matter how true it might be, is at best, uncouth and I refuse to be one of those who does.
So it is that I demand that Rupert Murdoch, Roget Ailes and everyone else at Fox News, stop treating Bill O’Reilly like the dick so many people say he is. After all, sometimes a dick deserves a break. Even one who never gives one to anyone else.

Billo the Clown deserves all the ridicule and public-laughing-at-him he can get… He’s an idiot loser who has nothing better to do than make up stories and read talking points just like his very low IQ competition..Limberger, Hannerity, Dobson, etc…
The sooner HIS public runs him out of town the better… Also the ‘Fairness Doctrine’ will rid us of him quickly and cleanly….buh-bye!!
Bill O’Reilly is a clown, and a dick. He does not deserve a break.
I do watch his show every now and then, primarily to see what the “other side” thinks. I some times agree with him; most of the time I do not.
Regardless, O’Reilly can be a real jerk. I hate his (and anyone else’s) yelling and screaming on air. He never apologizes for serious mistakes he makes; he may jokingly apologize for some trivial mistake he made, but never for serious ones.
I do respect some things about him, notably his education…..that’s far more than I can for the likes of Limbaugh and Hannity who did not go to or complete college.
I haven’t watched O’Reilly much at all since the DNC and RNC because I got tired of him, but I have in the past watched him quite often, so I should have some credibility in what I speak of. He in fact has read at least 4 of my emails on air this year (and I think more, based on what friends have told me.)
If O’Reilly were more humble, more apologetic sometimes, I’d respect and like him more.
Are you kidding? We should leave him alone because he has done all of these terrible things that his kids might hear about… because he is such an obvious target of distain? Let’s not forget that scads of loyal followers believe the lies you pointed out in this article and more. Let’s not forget that his shout-you-down and cut-your-mic approach serves as an external model for a closed mind. Let’s not forget that he has an actual impact that should be discussed and should cause disgust.

I could not disagree with you more. By insinuating that he “deserves a break” even if you were being sarcastic, you imply that he somehow deserves his job and his place in our popular culture. He does not. He deserves and very much needs to loose his job, and be cast out of our public discourse. The time for know-nothing right wing propagandists in general is coming to an end, and BillO
does not even approach THAT level of legitimacy. He is worse than a villain. He is a traitor and a criminal and I do not want my kids, or anyone else’s, exposed to him. The very idea that he could be on TV, presenting himself as a journalist, is corrosive to democracy and truth itself. He should be jailed for his numerous violations of public trust.
I certainly hope this post was written with tongue in cheek, otherwise, it is indefensible.
I get the distinct impression that some of the readers of this article have missed Steve’s irony. While O’Reilly does make an easy target, I thought the way a few of his ’shortcomings’ were addressed here made the tone of the piece fairly obvious.

i have to assume this article is tongue in cheek. folks like O’reilly do not deserve a break as what they do shows a complete lack of social conscience. if his little family is upset then they should aim their arrows at their daddy for being the type of on-air personality he is. he is a total propaganda tool for the right wing and fox tv and i doubt murdoch feels so negative towards his minion. i have also recently realized the likes of o’reilly and hannity are actually wrestling characters. their whole shtick is like watching those intervioew segments where the wrestling personality shouts shouts shouts and says nothing. they do the same thing and it turns off the thinking centers of the brain as the viewer is sent crashing into their hind brain…fight or flee baby. no, please do not lay off this character.
Murdoch is just a money-making freak of a machine who knows the tide is turning in the US from Neo-fascism to something a bit more Progressive. He will throw O’Reilly under the bus and blame him for the near civil war atmosphere he helped create…for money.
