OVERDOSE: THE COMEDY

With already hundreds of millions in the bank, producers are putting finishing touches on the followup of the surprise hit film based on a wild night of drinking and drugging bachelor party in Las Vegas.

The four-letter crammed Hangover is crowded with a cornucopia of near death consequences from a single, drug-induced evening that results in hysterical mayhem including severe sunburn poisoning, brutal nausea, drug overdose, infant abandonment, racist performances, police-generated child-tasering and brutal elderly rear nudity. In the end, no one really gets hurt and everyone is better off for the experience.

“Admit it, American audiences can’t get enough of humorously risky lifestyles,” said producer/director Todd Phillips. “Especially teens who are searching for role-models like Alan (ZACH GALIFIANAKIS), who as a lovable psychotic, makes good manners and sanity a real obstacle to plain, good, dangerous behavior.”

While Hangover is a comedy about a bachelor party gone wrong, Overdose will be about the honeymoon gone very, very wrong.

“We haven’t even scraped the bad taste surface,” said Phillips. “The ramifications of drugs, over-drinking and untreated psychological problems can be really, really funny and there’s no reason why following those obsessions to their logical payoff - miserable lives and unnecessary death - can’t be hilarious. Tell me a good-solid life-threatening STD won’t have the kids rolling in the aisles.”

Overdose will follow groom Doug (JUSTIN BARTHA), the only returning cast member, on his honeymoon to Iran, where his friends Phil and Stu (TOM SIZEMORE and DANNY BONADUCE) tag along with new brother-in-law, Alan (JEAN-CLAUDE VAN DAMME), as the four friends shoot up Iranian heroin, interfere with election riots, mistake a Mullah for Willy Nelson and then - oops - mistakenly behead Doug’s new bride.

Phillips says audiences can look for “water-boarding, roofie-influenced rape” and “don’t blink or you’ll miss the Alan’s zany suicide-bombing wipe out of a orphanage.”   After which…hilarity ensues.

Developing.

Can’t wait. Want to be first in line to buy a ticket.

Here I’ve been wondering what will replace disgusting, degrading (un)reality shows (a dozen participant have committed suicide), and it looks like this might be it.

Should have know the replacement would be worse than the original.
