Neo-comic Bill Kristol Exits New York Times for National Lampoon

In what the media is calling “wacky, but long anticipated,” conservative pundit, William Kristol, has moved his New York Times column over to the National Lampoon, which won a fierce bidding war with The Onion for the writing services of Kristol.
Kristol had intimated to close friends that he would be leaving the Times to spend more time at home with his mistakes until the offer came down.
“I was just treading water at the Times,” said Kristol. “They just didn’t get the subtleties of well-written irony. And when the right opportunity came along where I could do what I do best: satire, I grabbed it.”
“I always felt that Bill’s column was more apropos for the Lampoon than the Times,” said National Lampoon creative director, Scott Rubin.
“One need only read his final Times column to realize this guy knows funny,” said Rubin.
“Conservatives have been right more often than not — and more often than liberals — about most of the important issues of the day: about Communism and jihadism, crime and welfare, education and the family. Conservative policies have on the whole worked — insofar as any set of policies can be said to “work” in the real world. Conservatives of the Reagan-Bush-Gingrich- Bush years have a fair amount to be proud of.”"When Bill asked, ‘Who today is called a liberal for strength and confidence in defense of liberty?’ I was on the phone to his literary agent”.
“When I get things wrong at FoxNews or the Weekly Standard or The Times, I’m criticized for not knowing my ass from a hole in the ground. At the Lampoon, literally, there is no difference between my ass and a hole in the ground. The National Lampoon has had its name on “Animal House” and most of Paris Hilton’s films”, explained Kristol. “Obviously it’s a place where I don’t have to actually explain my wit and whimsy.”
