O’Reilly Uses Edwards Issue To Again Minimalize The Homeless Veteran’s Plight

August 11, 2008 · Filed Under Bill O'Reilly, Media · 2 Comments
Once again, Bill O’Reilly played his “John Edwards exploited veterans by fanatical exaggeration of the number of homeless veterans” card. And he says the recent HUD figures prove it. O’Reilly had said that Edwards said there were 200,000 homeless vets, which Edwards later lowered to 150,000 when making a speech supporting Barack Obama. O’Reilly failed to mention that at the time,Veteran’s Affairs were estimating near “…200,000 veterans were homeless on any given night…” Now O’Reilly says that HUD’s new homeless data reports that there are 132,000 homeless and only 13% of them are veterans. That would equate to around 17,000 vets on the streets. The problem is that there are 132,000 “chronic” homeless - those who are out on the street for over a year straight or have experienced at least four episodes of homelessness in the past three years. The HUD data actually states the total number Read more

O’Reilly Race-Baiting Attacks On Obama Getting Ludacris

Unless you were dropped on the planet yesterday …I take that back - five minutes ago… it’s no secret Bill O’Reilly’s Independent train left the station sometime during the Johnson administration - the Andrew Johnson administration. In the John McCain-Barack Obama race he has alleged the usual fair and balanced approach. In fact, Bill contends that FoxNews as a whole is right down the middle, as he told a caller on his Radio Factor this past Thursday

“Fox News has just as many liberals as conservatives, from sign on to sign off.”

Bill explained that if it seems to be that he is only covering adverse news on Obama, it’s Read more

O’Reilly: Jim Webb is in the Pocket of Moveon

July 30, 2008 · Filed Under Bill O'Reilly · Comment
(12:30 PM EST, Wed, SYOP) On today’s Radio Factor, Independent Bill O’Reilly is busy demonizing Senator Jim Webb (D,VA), the way he does anyone who doesn’t want to come on to his show.

“Webb is in the pocket of Moveon,” said O’Reilly, after the senator didn’t come on O’Reilly’s show to discuss a veteran’s bill.

Bill said that he “put Webb and Peter King (R, NY) together to get the veteran’s bill going.”  The man is powerful

“We believe Webb was told not to come on (by Moveon).  There was no other reason for him not Read more

O’REILLY-SIZE ME - Study Proves O’Reilly A Health Risk

O\'Reilly Size Me(A forthcoming documentary soon to be released to theaters near you?)

As part of my media-culture thesis at the University of Levittown, I wanted to determine how much, if any, heavy doses of particular broadcasts affects the mental, emotional and physical health of the viewer or, in some cases, viewee.

That lead me to Bill O’Reilly. As an admitted liberal, card-carrying member of the ACLU and enthusiastic contributor to PETA, I knew I had to leave my beliefs and bias at door. I would watch and listen to Bill O’Reilly everyday for a month. Two hours of radio in the morning and one every evening on Fox TV. This type of trial is always risky, but to advance the study of culture influences on mankind, I’d even listen to Michael Savage.

To produce a clear distinction between the O’Reilly effect and not let extraneous Read more

(Un)Reliable Sources: Kurtz Says Fox/O’Reilly Getting White House Talking Points A Non-Story

July 27, 2008 · Filed Under Bill O'Reilly, Fox News, Media · Comment

On Sunday’s “Reliable Sources” with Howard Kurtz on CNN, Kurtz and his panel all agreed that  former Bush Press Secretary, Scott McClellan’s revelation that the Bush White House regularly sends “talking points” to the FoxNews Channel because “there were commentators and pundits who were useful to the White House,” was a non story.   They said it was a non-story since everyone gets talking points, even though McClellan confirmed that Bill O’Reilly was one who was sent the talking points.

A non-story?

The Fox News Channel “quarterback” (by his own admission), and the most watched news show on cable with millions of Folks watching (by his own repeated pats on the back), has made it quite clear Read more
