Why Is “Far Right” Newsmax Advertising On “Far Left” MSNBC?

May 18, 2009 · Filed Under Bill O'Reilly, Media

Where is the last place you might find a far right wing news organization advertising? Um…MSNBC? You’d be right, but that is exactly where Newmax Magazine is selling its uber conservative wares.

That’s right. Newsmax, the same media outlet run by CEO Christopher Ruddy who infamously wrote of Vince Foster’s suicide being a murder tied to President Bill Clinton in his “The Strange Case of Vince Foster: An Investigation.” Newsmax, the same organization where you discover the finely tuned reporting from the likes of Bill O’Reilly, Dick Morris and David Limbaugh as well as most any conspiracy rumor and innuendo that rips the Democratic party. The same magazine and website that this past week offered ….

Little more than two weeks ago Newsmax told of the horrific ratings at MSNBC.:April 29, 2009 headline: MSNBC, CNN Ratings Plunge as O’Reilly Reigns

So where do they choose to advertise? Smack dab in the middle of the no-one-is-supposedly-watching home of the evil-doers. The best part is that one of their commercials ran right in the middle of The Ed Show, hosted by Ed Schultz. That’s the Ed Shultz who Newsmax told their readers that he had committed the same unethical journalistic abomination as Armstrong Williams who had shilled for /taken money from the Bush Administration Department of Education to promote No Child Left Behind in the guise of objective news commentary - an act the Government Accountability Office concluded was illegal. A Newsmax piece claimed that Schultz “admitted he was on the (radio) thanks to the generosity of the Democratic Party,” which it might be helpful to add, Schultz never admitted, nor in fact, did.

So why would a “news organization” that regularly runs an ad asking to “Help Us Defeat Harry Reid” on most of their web pages decide to pay to advertize on a network that is the home of the far right’s pointiest thorn, Keith Olbermann, who Newmax said “distinguished himself by combining the highest levels of ego, arrogance, ignorance, error and partisan imbalance in all of broadcasting. If Keith Olbermann were even 1 percent as smart as he thinks he is, he would outshine Einstein”?

One Newsmax marketing department source said, “It reaches our audience.”

An MSNBC host wondered that “the left must have infiltrated the ad department.”

The real answer will probably come ght when I’m guessing O’Reilly will be addressing the curious move by Newsmax in his regular NBC is dying opine on today’s Factor.
