With Friends Like These…

September 17, 2008 · Filed Under 2008 Election, Barack Obama, John McCain, Media, Sarah Palin

When  you spend more time on defense than on offense it’s not as easy to score.  When it’s your own team who is applying the hits, you just might want to consider folding the franchise.

McCain’s top economic advisor, Phil Gramm, advised the we’re just “a nation of whiners,” and that our recession is only “mental.”  Then, as the right is wont to do, he added that, ”Misery sells newspapers Thank God the economy is not as bad as you read in the newspaper every day.”

LEHMAN BROTHERS FOLDS!  MARKET PLUMMETS OVER 500 POINTS!

Damn you, you misery selling newspapers!

Top McCain advisor Carly Fiorina says that Sarah Palin does not have the experience to run a major company.

Right-wing columnist, David Brooks writes that “Sarah Palin has many virtues. If you wanted someone to destroy a corrupt establishment, she’d be your woman. But the constructive act of governance is another matter. She has not been engaged in national issues, does not have a repertoire of historic patterns and, like President Bush, she seems to compensate for her lack of experience with brashness and excessive decisiveness.”

Even top whisper in McCain ear’r, Karl Rove says, “McCain has gone in his ads one step too far, and sort of attributing to Obama things that are, you know, beyond the 100-percent-truth test.”

I don’t expect McCain/Palin to go away, but it does seem the only thing their team attacks more than Obama…is themselves.

McCain & Palin’s problem is that they both decided to be Conservative instead of American.

And that is exactly what they are.
